芽菜鸡 -
Okay, it's really been a long time since my last entry on food. So here's something special all the way from Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Here goes another episode of....
HO JIA EHTM

This dish, quite unique to Ipoh. There's this two major coffee shops opened next to each other in one of the streets ( name of which I can't remember ) that sells this. Now, what's so special about this dish....... The steamed chicken doesn't have much difference from the Hainan Chicken in Singapore. Well, the meat is just as nice, tender and Q including the breast meat itself. The most special thing about it is that it is usually served with another plate of bean sprouts, hence the name 芽菜鸡. The bean sprouts are slightly different from what you get in Singapore. They are more fatter and shorter unlike the long and thin ones which you get here. And according to my girlfriend, it's something to do with the soil in Ipoh. Another thing is that, you get the choice of eating it with the Ipoh hor fun (flat rice noodles), dry or with soup. The Ipoh hor fun was much smoother and more silky than the ones in Singapore. The thought of it makes me hungry now. And ya, they sell till real late in the night, hence a common supper amongst the locals and tourists. Best of all, it's really cheap. You can get something like that in the photo plus three bowls of hor fun and two drinks at 8 Ringgit!
